Asha was walking down the street holding Devin's hand. They had just been to the night club to watch a local band play. It was good but she wasn't really paying attention to the band. She was totally falling in love with Devin, but she wouldn't say it. They were going to collage in a year. It was summer time. They were both seventeen and next year would be entering their senior year in high school, things were changing fast. Asha laughed at the look on Devin's face. It was the look he got when he was thinking of something totally relative and most likely debating with himself on whether or not it was important.
She smiled at him still walking toward her house. His hand felt colder than usual, Asha had to drop it, it felt like ice. "Are you feeling OK?" she asked, but right as she asked it she felt as if she were going to barf. She hadn't been drinking, and she had barley eaten anything although she felt the dark color of her skin in the summer starting to fade from her face. "Whoa." she muttered steadying herself before continuing to walk.

Devin was walking hand in hand with his beautiful girlfriend, Asha. So much was going through his head. They were going into their senior year at high school. There was so much to think about. Especially the part about him being an immortal vampire. When Asha let go of his hand and started to sway, he got worried. "Asha, are you alright?" he asked putting an arm around her to steady her. She hadn't been drinking or had barely eaten anything. He was starting to get worried.

Asha forced a smile. "Yeah I guess I'm just a little tired..." She said walking a little quicker than before. He was so cold! It was normal for him to feel cold and rock hard, but this was ridiculous. "I'll call you later OK?" She said once they were at the door to her house. She pecked him on the cheek and went inside throwing a smile his way over her shoulder. "DAKOTA!!!" She yelled going into the kitchen and looking through the medicine cabinet.
Dakota came down stairs his hair was all over the place and he was in jeans. "What?" he asked a little angry but still concerned for his little sister. Dakota would be going away to collage in a year if he wasn't a werewolf. He was supposed to stay here, and protect the town from the Olson's.

Devin looked curiously at Asha. She was not her usual self. "Um...okay?" he said not really sure what to say. He watched her go into her house and turned to walk back to his house. Charity would most likely pounce on him and ask about what they did and how everything was. His 'sister' was like that. As soon as he got out of the Taccone tribe borders he picked up speed and practically flew to his house. Devin got to his room and waited for Asha's call.

"I don't feel so well." she said messing with her brothers hair absent midedly then her spine started to feel like it was ripping apart.
"ASHA!" Dakota cried seeing the wolfish look in her eye then she started to phase. Without thinking he picked her up and ran her outside just in time. Then he kicked off his shoes and ran into the forest to phase himself. Running back on all fours to his sister he noticed how much smaller she was. He played through memories at rappid fire then told her to stay put while he got clothes for her going back into the forest he realized she could fit through the door if she bowed her head. "Bow your head so you dont hit it on the door frame." he instructed leading the way through the door. "Your going to need clothes... just be careful and go outside to phase."
Asha did as she was told. She phased and got dressed quickly going back inside to find Dakota sitting on the floor of their living room with his head in his hands. "Are you okay?" she asked her voice cracking.

Devin was pacing in his room. Asha hadn't called yet. It had been two days! He had called her brother, Dakota, but he just said she'd call him later. When was later?! He didn't know what to do. Should he go over there? Should he call again? He racked his brain of ways to try to get ahold of her. He text Asha. He left a voice mail. What if something bad had happened to her? No. He wouldn't think those things. He sat down on the leather couch and put in his ipod headphones. Loosing himself in the music to try to relax himself.

"Asha if you call him..." Dakota searched his mind for threats "You know what he is and you still want to talk to him?!" Dakota felt betrayed in a way, but he knew that he would be able to stop Asha. "Asha..." he begged out of ways to stop her "please don't he'll hurt you."
Asha was already calling him, the phone pressed to her ear. "Dakota I have to! Its not fair!" just before the third ring she looked up at her brother. The look on his face wasnt one that was angry... no it was betrayed. She took in the lines of his face that made him look like he was twenty five when he was really only 18. With the look of grief on his face it made him look thirty. "Sorry." she muttered turning away from him. She couldn't bare the look on her brothers face.
"Im going for a jog." he said shaking the slightest bit. He pushed past her ditching his shirt by the front door, they always kept it cool in their house but he knew that it would be hotter outside. As he started off he concentrated on stopping the shaking. If he phased he would ruin yet another pair of jeans and tinnis shoes.

Devin jumped when he felt his back pocket vibrate. He looked at the screen. It was Asha! He paused his ipod and answered. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick!" he said immediately. Asha had seriously no idea how much she had worried him. Just then his 'sister', Charity, walked in the room. He watched her sit down by him. He studied her face. He knew that look. Something was wrong.
Charity sat by her 'brother' and waited for him to finish on the phone. She had seen Asha at home, then all of a sudden things went black. She couldn't see anything about her anymore. That just meant one thing. Asha had shifted to a werewolf. She hated to crush her brother's heart but it had to be done. It had to.

Asha took a deep breath before speaking, "Yeah I-I-I'm fine..." Asha stuttered. Why had she called it just made her confused. Would she tell him... No she couldn't Dakota had bound her by oath... whatever that meant she couldn't say anything out loud. "I've been... sick." she said pulling her long sleeves down over her hands like she always did when she was nervous. She had hopped back on the counter to get out of Dakota's way while he was leaving and now was sitting criss-cross playing with the ends of her sweater. I was wondering, she imagined herself saying, are you a vampire because I'm you're mortal enemy if you are. sighing to herself she tugged on her long sleeves forgetting her new strength and ripping a hole in the sleeve, she cursed under her breath examining the damage.

Devin sighed a breath of relief. "Okay. You worried the crap out of me." He glanced over at Charity who still looked solemn. When he tried to read her thoughts he heard her saying the alphabet...in Japanese. Something was definitely wrong.
Charity waited patiently as her brother finished his call. To keep her mind off of what she was going to talk about she started saying the alphabet in different languages. She motioned for him to finish up, or at least try to. It would be hard tell him that he couldn't go near Asha again.

"Sorry." she said quietly and sheepishly. What was she sapposed to say? Lets go out tomarrow. Yeah that would go over well. "Devin... I have to go... I'm sorry." she knew that he could read her like a book so, if it was possible, she tried to tell him everything with just one word. "Bye." She choked on the word trying not to cry. Quickly she hung up. She couldn't stand it any more. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she took the phone to her room expecting him to call back eventually. What would she say when he did though? She didn't care now, she would worry about all that later.

Devin was confused. "Um..okay. Bye." he said a little hurt. He hung up the phone and turned to Charity. That's when he knew. Charity just had to think it. "NO! NO! NO! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!" he practically screamed. So what if Asha was a werewolf?! He loved her.
Charity couldn't stand to see her brother so hurt. She stood and walked to his door. "I'm so sorry, Devin." she said quietly before leaving him to his pain.

Asha and throw the house phone against her bed so it wouldn't brake. He cell phone was already there. She paced the room looking at both of them. "I have to call him!" she shouted. She was home alone and more shouting at herself. She hated this. She picked up the phone meaning to call Dakota to ask him what to do... he would know... right? Instead her fingers dialed Devin, her brain told her she should hang up, but for some reason she couldn't. There were still tears running down her face but no sound comming from her mouth, no evidance without seeing her that she had been crying. Until the phone stopped ringing. "Devin?" she asked even though she knew it was him. It was obvious she was crying now. It had been two hours since she had hung up the phone from the first time. She wouldn't hang up this time even though she should.

Devin glanced at his screen. Asha. His eyes were filled with tears and his voice cracking. "What?" he asked a little harsher than he meant. Since Charity had said, rather thought, those things two hours earlier he had been hard and bitter. He started to hate the world. He had cried. He couldn't even remember the last time he cried. All because of one girl and one word.

"Sorry..." she apologized sheepishly recoiling from the tone of his voice. "I just... I just wanted to know... if you were mad, at me." although she knew she sounded like a child asking that, she did want to know. She heard herself the sounds of her choking on words, crying, and more the anything the begging. She sounded down right pathetic. She didn't expect an answer from Devin when she sounded like this. Even though she knew that was a lie. Her mind was racing, her tears still flowed but she silenced her sobs. It was impossible to think over her heart beat racing. Finally she gave up and pulled her legs up against her chest sitting in a corner waiting for an answer like a child.
