Charity paced outside the old meeting house. She had asked Braden to meet her there so she could tell him her secret. That she was an immortal vampire. She was worried. Would he think that she was freak? Would he stop liking her? Would he just turn and run? She didn't know what to think. She couldn't see it because he hadn't made up his mind. Stupid mind games. He was late. Over 30 minutes late. Crap. He wasn't coming. He thought she was insane. He thought she was a freak. Ugh! She couldn't take this! Braden, she thought, please please please come!

Braden walked up to the meeting house, his sister had to use his car while his was in the shop and had taken it to clases. He was late. By the time he had gotten downstairs, picked up the leftover mess that was big enough to be made by six people (like he had said would be there), and went to change clothes his sister was already gone. So he had to walk. The meeting house wasn't too far away... by car. On foot it was futher. He had ran halfway here before someone had stopped him and asked him was the rush was. "I'm so sorry I'm late Charity!" He said as he came closer to her. He felt like hugging her but wasn't sure if he should. He was mostly wondering what the secret was. Wondering if there was some reason that she couldn't date him or something. He didn't want to make it worse whatever it was. Charity was now the only person he ever thought about, and that wasn't about to change.

Charity whipped around and caught site of Braden. Relief swept over her like a tsunami wave. "It's okay, Braden. I had just thought you had gotten hurt or something." she said softly. She went over to his side and touched him. He was very warm for having to walk such a great distance. She made the sweat disappear. One advantage to being a vampire. "I know you're probably wondering what my big secret is. It's-it's hard to explain really. I need you to open your mind and not judge or react quickly. It's a lot to take in...but I trust you. I trust you as much as I trust my brother." she said frankly. She did trust him. With her life. She hoped that she hadn't made a wrong decision by deciding this. By trusting him. But something was telling her that she could. That this was the right choice. "Oh, and you might want to sit down."

Braden smiled a bit at her comment. "I've never broken a bone in my body... okay yes I have, but not recently." He said mater o' factly. Her touch felt good on his hot skin. When she had started talking about trusting him he got serious. "You can always trust me, Charity." he said trying to make her feel better about telling him whatever it was. He sat down on the floor obediantly. "Are you going to sit down?"

Charity nodded and sat down. She took his hand in hers and traced little circles around the upside of his hand. She took a deep breath. "The truth..." she paused, "the truth is that I'm a vampire." she said calmly. She closed her eyes and explained further. "I'm an immortal vampire. I have no heart that beats, my skin is always cold because it comes with being...who I am. I am drawn to the scent of blood. The reason that I haven't killed you yet is because ever since I've been born again, I've only eaten animal blood. That's why my eyes are the color they are. No we are not burned to death by sunlight. I'll show you what happens when we're in sun later. No I don't sleep in a coffin. I don't even sleep...ever. I am over a hundred years old but I was changed when I was 18 and forever will stay that age....and look that age." she stopped and opened her eyes. She looked at Braden. Waiting for the answer, or reaction, that could change everything.

Braden watched her face as she told him this. At first he though she was joking, but then it became painfully clear she was telling the truth. Braden thought about all the old tales the elders used to tell, this sounded a lot like them. If it was then they were all the truth. Even about werewolves... which would mean Asha and Dakota... He wouldn't think about that right now. "So... is that why you wanted to leave the other night... because you were afraid you would... kill me?" he asked no knowing if that was the right thing. The rest of it sounded like a tale the elders told. He ignored his first question decideing he really didn't want an answer to that. "I believe you... our... 'tribes' tales tell about vampires... Just exsactly like what you discribed... but..." he couldn't find the words to say. What would the elder's say. Wait... then Devin was a vampire too. So could Asha be a werewolf then? "how are you like... vegitarian.. I guess" the words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop them, but it was kind of far fetched, he had to admit.

Charity searched his face. It was a mix of confusion at first then became painstakingly clear that he understood. Charity nodded at his first question. "Your smell is very sweet, and I almost bit you. That's why I kinda....bolted. It wasn't because you kissed me." she said. She wished she was Devin right now. The ability to read what was going on inside his head would've been so much easier on her. She sighed at his question about 'vegetarian' vampires. He must've heard the tales that the Taccone tribes told. About how vampires where heartless slaying monsters. How could she make him see that she was different. "The tales that the tribes tell," she began, "they are of ones that are not like us. The vampires that actually feed on human blood. They make them seem like heartless killing monsters. But really, they're not. They only feed when they have too. Being a 'vegetarian' is different. I only feed on animal blood. Still, there is always that temptation." she paused to suck in another breath. "Vampires who feed on humans, their eyes are bright fire red. My eyes aren't like that, as you could probably tell. That's because I feed only and souly animal blood. Which is why my eyes are like...." she paused to think of a color to describe them. "like topaz." She paused again and let him digest that information. It was so much to take in. She took another deep breath. "If you don't want to be around me now I can just leave." she said as she stood up.

Braden digested all the information. So it wasn't like she was bad or anything... So who cared? Besides how could he stand to let Charity leave? He was still trying to figure out how he had missed all this. She got up and started to leave, he quickly stood up and grabbed her hand. "Don't leave." he said kind of begging her to stay. He looked at her taking all the stuff she said in. "I don't care... that your a vampire..." he said serching for the words to say.

Charity stopped as a warm hand wrapped around hers. She turned to see Braden begging with his eyes for her to stay. So he didn't care? He didn't care that she was a vampire? "You...you don't care?" she asked, stumbling over her words. She came closer to him. She saw the contrast between the two of them. Braden's dark skin, dark hair, and gorgeous dark eyes, his warm skin. She looked at herself. The white skin, golden hair, and liquid topaz eyes. Her skin would always be cold, her heart would never beat again. They were so different, yet so alike. Just then her eyes became distant and her mind traveled. She saw a vintage Camaro with a big red bow on it. She saw Devin, Asha, and herself in a driveway. Braden's driveway. Her mind snapped back to the present and a huge smile cracked her face. "You're birthday's coming up."

"Of course I don't care!" he assured her, "We're not really that much different." He watched her as her eyes spaced out and when she came back he wondered how she knew that. "Yeah... it is... How'd you know that?" he asked smiling a bit. He wished he knew when her birthday was... Then again he didn't know if vampires celebrated birthdays.

Charity smiled at him. "There's one other thing I should probably tell you." she said. "Vampires have special abilities. Mine, for example, is to see the future. The catch is that I only see things that are decided. I just saw something having to do with you're birthday. That's why I space out sometimes. Devin can read people's thoughts. So if you don't want him knowing everything then you'll have to find a subject that doesn't make any sense. I usually just start saying random stuff in different languages." she laughed. She knew now that Asha and Devin had been planning to get Braden a car for his birthday. Not just any car, too. A vintage blue Camaro. Nice cars. She knew that Braden needed a car and this would definitely be the perfect gift.

Braden smiled back, he wasn't totaly wrapping his head around everything yet, but that would explain why Devin always seemed to know what Asha was thinking. "So, can you see that I'm about to kiss you?" he asked leaning closer to her and kissing her. He smiled a bit at her. Even though he knew that she probably didn't want him testing her like that. He smiled a little apologeticly. "Sorry, I can't help it." he said shrugging.

Charity smiled and kissed him back. "Why are you apologizing?" she asked. She rose up a little and kissed him again. She couldn't help herself. She liked kissing him. "Just as long as you don't move suddenly when we kiss I can handle it. Until I get a better grip on the temptation." she explained. She played with his spiked hair a little bit. She thought back to his car. She knew exactly were to find the one she saw. She'd need Asha's help, but it could be done. "So is your car in the shop or something?" she asked.

Braden smilied slightly kissing her back. "I really don't know." he admitted. Braden became aware of how strong she must be and how still she could be for so long. It all made since and for some reason he wasn't scared at all. Infact he liked it. "My car has nothing wrong with it. My sister totaled hers so she is... barrowing mine... forever." he laughed slightly.

Charity nodded. So he was in need of a car. This was going to be all-to-perfect. "Ah. So you're car-less." she smiled. She new how much it sucked to not have a car. After Devin had totaled hers in a mad dash from some nomads she had to run everywhere. Though sometimes it was easier. She learned never to let anyone but herself drive her car. She loved that 1968 vintage red Mustang. It was the best car in the world. "I love my car." she smiled. She looked over to her Mustang about 10 feet away.
