New York City had been a wonderful place to live. The Bronx and Queens had been brimming with crime. Alani had been living happily and in total comfort, never going hungry. But humans were smarter than she judged them for. They began noticing trends in the suspects that either died by "suicide" or "accident." It always happened right before they succeeded in their drime. Also, the causes of death differed, but there were always an injury to the neck. Though it took the smartest scientists in NYC 3 months to figure it out, they managed to. That lead to a belief that there was a murderer of criminals. It had been very funny watching them wait for a vigilante like Batman to get caught in the act. Well, they had been close. It wasn't Batman, but the killer was commonly associated with vampire bats.
As she trudged through the silent forest, Alani chuckled. By the time the media was bustling with the belief of a twisted superhero, she'd been out of state. Honestly, she could've stayed in the city for a year before they actually saw her in the act. She was just playing it safe. So, here she was. Wandering around, looking for a town to seek out a meal. The only place she knew of in the area was a rather small city. She had been planning on skipping over it until a most peculiar scent hit her. It smelt like dogs that had rolled in roadkill and manure. Along with the familiar scent of humans, there was also a scent that pulled on her curiousity. It smelt like other vampires. Unable to resist, she was on her way to find out what had her mind spinning.

Charity lightly jumped from tree to tree. She had just feasted on mountain lions, she was going to meet with Braden, and her brother was off doing something with Asha. Life was good. She was about to jump onto the ground below when she saw a figure. A girl to be more specific. A strangely beautiful girl. Her skin was pale, her features perfect. There was only one explanation. Another vampire. She watched as the girl wandered around. She looked sort of dazed or confused. She probably had no idea where she was or what she was smelling. In the forest it always smelled like a mixture of vampire, werewolf, and human. Always. That always confused new comers. Lightly she fluttered down to the ground behind the girl. She wished that she had Devin's power of reading minds at that moment. It would've been nice to see what the new comer was thinking. Charity only saw the future, and only choices that had been decided. It got annoying. Surely the girl had no idea she was coming if Charity had not seen her. "Um...hi." she spoke up. She took some of her golden strands of hair and rand her granite fingers through the strands. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and stared at the back of the new vampire. One who seemed to have a lot of mystery about her.

Alani continued further through the dense forest. Her eyes scanned cautiously for any other vampire that might be territorial. The last thing she needed was to get in a fight. A lone vampire against a coven of vampires weren't very good odds. As she got closer, the putrid scent of a filthy dog flooded her nostrils. Crinkling her nose, she backed up a bit. What the hell was that? Suddenly, the stench was drowned out by a different scent. It didn't smell like human blood, but of her own kind. She froze, trying to hear any thoughts that were made toward her. It was slightly annoying that her power only let her hear what the owner of the thoughts wanted her to. Sometimes she could hear thoughts about her, but that was only with humans or unknowing vampires. She listened closely until a faint image of her walking appeared in her mind. So she was being followed. All she knew was it was a female vampire, but not if she meant any harm. A second before the voice broke the silence, her head was turned. The figure behind her was without a doubt a vampire. No human could have such looks. Plus, her topaz eyes were a dead giveaway. Alani cautiously watched her, ready to fight or flee. "Hello." Her voice was mild and calm, hiding the panicked thoughts racing through her mind. She was careful to look alert, but not threatening. If the other vampire wasn't alone and was a foe, she was in huge trouble.

Charity couldn't help but laugh when she saw the slightly frightened look in the other vampire's eyes. She looked her up and down. She definitely was a vampire. The white skin and the sheer beauty. Then her gaze caught on her eyes. They were blood red. She was a hunter. This was a dangerous situation. Her mind immediately went to Braden. Was he safe? Was this vampire alone or with others? Instinctively she crouched. "I'm sorry, but hunters aren't welcome here. We have strict rules against hunting here in our town." she said trying to keep her voice calm. It was so hard to think that right here, in Forks, was a hunter. So close to Braden. She couldn't help but react the way she did. She tried to think of a way to contact Asha or even Dakota for that matter. If this vampire meant trouble, she probably couldn't last long on her own. By the looks of things she was still new. "I'm sorry to have to be so defensive, but things are complicated around here. I don't mean you any harm. It's just that I must protect the treaty we have with some unlikely alliances." She still hadn't straightened out her crouch. She had to be on all of her senses. She had to be ready at a moments notice. Though, she didn't really want a fight at all. She hoped that maybe this vampire would change her ways and, possibly, join the coven. It was just those eyes. Those fierce blood red eyes. They were so foreign, so menacing looking.

Alani's brow raised slightly as the other vampire laughed. What was so amusing? Then, when they made eye contact, things changed. As soon as she crouched, Alani's full expression changed. The curiosity in her gaze was replaced with a fierce glare. She mimicked the crouch, looking ready to fight back or run for it. Though her instincts were taking over, she could still read the other vampire's stray thoughts directed toward her. Understanding that she was only panicked because of Alani's eyes, she laughed. Straightening up, a smile twitched at her lips. "Unless your Braden is a mortal criminal, I promise you he is safe. I never hunt the innocent. I'm sort of...a twisted hunter. I only prey on human murderers, rapists, and all those pains that no one will miss. Killing those that have done nothing wrong doesn't appeal to me. I am alone." She spoke calmly and confidently, relaxing quickly. "Unlikely alliances...oh! That's what the odor is. Werewolf. I forget that Forks is in this area. You are the vegetarians that made a pact with the mongrels." The victory of satisfying her curiosity made her half smile a bit. She'd never been around werewolves before which explained why the scent had caught her off guard. "Oh and by the way, I'm Alani."

Charity rose from her crouch clearly confused. How the hell did this girl know what she was thinking? Was she a mind reader like Devin? Crap. Now she really had to watch what she was thinking about. Now that Devin and Braden had become over night friends she knew that whatever Devin heard he would tell Braden. "I'm Charity?" she said, the introductory coming out more as a question. She tossed back her golden hair. She looked the girl up and down again. So she only hunted criminals. Well, she might go hungry here. "There's not much crime here in Forks. I highly doubt that the dogs will let you hunt here as well." she said shrugging. She knew that Alani wouldn't be able to hunt. There was no way that this new vamp was breaking this treaty. And possibly things between Asha and Devin. "If you wanna try our life style though, we're always expanding our coven. The doors are always open." she said, her voice friendly.

Dakota was on guard when Alani came close to Charity. He had been wandering around off the trail and on the trail. He didn't know why they still did this. No one was coming, wait what was that scent? He knew every scent by heart. Vampires, werewolves, and humans. This was not a scent he knew. Then he smelled tension, and anger. Immediately he ran as fast as he could not thinking till he was in the field. All of the sudden the tension stopped but there was still a hint of caution. He arrived in the spot where they were and looked around. He was taller than both of them, looking down at them, seeing a face he didn't recognize. Trying as hard as possible he ignored their strong scent looking at Charity with confusion like he was asking her what was happening. He knew she hated it when he was around because she couldn't "see" or whatever she did.

Alani chuckled softly at Charity's confusion. "I'm sort of a mind reader. I can hear all thoughts about or directed to me if the owner of the mind doesn't block them from me. I can also send messages and images to other's minds on my own free will. It's quite useful." Though she wasn't tired or needing to rest, Alani rested against a large tree. She looked casual and much less cautious. "It's nice to meet you." Shrugging slightly, she looked out at the seemingly endless forest. "Seattle is probably the next city I'll hit. As much as I hate it, I may just stick around Forks for the night and try to bag a mountain lion or something. As long as your guard dogs don't attack me, I'll stay out of everyone's way." She held back a scoff at Charity's suggestion. Being in a coven would get her in a much closer environment with humans. In New York, she'd been able to keep her distance and resist temptation. She was still relatively newborn. Shaking her head lightly, she allowed a few stands of her dark hair to fall against her ivory colored face. "I don't think that's a very good idea. Though I have good self control, I haven't been a vampire for very long. Coming in close contact with humans while I'm still craving human blood might be slightly...dangerous." Honestly, Alani was interested in settling down. Since her mind wasn't locked on feeding, she was starting to want companionship and also a mate. She just wasn't sure if she was strong enough to stay out of trouble. For the time being, she was playing with the idea of rejoining the Volturi and simply feeding off the criminals in their area. Her attention was stolen as the putrid smell of dog came closer. She staggered backward a bit, squinting her eyes as if she was in pain. Opening her eyes, she saw the muscular boy standing near Charity. Instinctively, she hissed and backed up a bit. She didn't like the looks of him. If Charity and this fleabag teamed up on her, she wouldn't have much of a chance. Still, her voice wryly rung out. "So I'm guessing you're one of the mutts...."

Charity watched as Dakota stood beside her. The smell was bearable now, since she had been around it so much. She new, now, that she had numbers on her side. One false move from the new comer there would be a price to pay. She looked over at Dakota. "This is Alani. She's a hunter, but apparently only on 'criminals'. I told her we don't have any here, so she's just going to bunk here for the night, then move on to Seattle." she explained. She looked back over at Alani, her blonde hair blowing in the slight breeze. Knowing that this newbie could read her mind and put images into her head was discomforting. She hated when people messed with her mind. She was what made this coven. With out her Devin and Alyssa would be out raging havoc as blood lust monsters. All thanks to James. The mentor who taught her all she knew. It had been 25 years since his death, but it still hurt. She snapped out of her daze and focused back on Alani. "I'm warning you as a friend. Do not hunt here. There will be all hell to pay if either myself, Devin, Alyssa, or any of the dogs find one of our humans missing or harmed." her voice having a serious warning tone to it. She looked back over to Dakota. "I know we have a pact but honestly. Could you go back to your rounds? I can't see a damn thing and its giving me a head ache!" she said massaging her temples. The dumb dogs blocked her visions and it was starting to piss her off. She had to make sure that Braden, Devin, and Alyssa were alright. If anything happened to them it would be the dogs fault.

Dakota grimmaced at the new thing standing infront of him. If he wasn't in control right now he would have ripped her to shreads right about now. He could smell the human blood that was simi-fresh on her lips. He could also see all too clearly her blood red eyes. He let out a low snarl his wolf lips curling back away from his teeth. Immeadiately he looked down at Charity as she started to speak. Her words didn't make him happy. Couldn't they just kick the damn blood sucker out of the area. He didn't feel up to a fight tonight. He rolled his eyes a natural reaction that worked when he was a wolf too. Locking his eyes on the blood red eyes staring back at him he growled a warning. Stupid bloodsuckers invading our stupid land. Life is so freaking annoying. He backed into the woods behind Charity only complying because he knew what it was like to be blocked from someone you could usualy see so clearly.
Returning to the woods another sent caught on the air. Asha, and she was getting close. No way was he chancing his sister to this thing.

Alani was starting to feel uneasy again. Though they were hard to hear, she could hear faint whispers coming from Charity's mind. To her dismay, they were about how she was outnumbered. A low growl emitted from her throat. She began backing up slowly. Her light red eyes darkened naturally. "Exactly. I have no urge to stick around here. Not with a canine infestation." She shook her hair out of her face so her eyes could remain on the boy in front of her. The way he was scowling at her only egged her on to attack him. Natural hatred radiated off her toward him. A chilling thought hit her mind. What would happen when she was alone? The werewolves always came in packs. If they saw a young lone vampire...she wouldn't stand much of a chance. The only solution was one she prayed would work. She tried to hide the panic in her eyes as she sent a shaky mental message to Charity. I have an idea. I don't like the way this dog is glaring at me...is there any chance I could possibly hang around your coven tonight? That way I won't be alone and you all can keep an eye on me. That way, everyone will be happy. She glanced to Charity, a pleading look in her eyes. Nothing had ever really frightened her before. It was obvious these wolves wouldn't accept her. That could have deadly consequences for Alani.

Charity sighed. "Easy, dog. She's not attacking, and yes. Yes you may." She knew that Dakota was probably very lost right now. She didn't care. Ash long as he left soon so that she could see again. "I wish I could see...." she mumbled closing her eyes. Her mind drifted to her coven. Where they okay? Stupid dog. She hated being blinded like this. Was Braden alright? She needed to meet up with him soon. "Yo, dog. Stop glaring at the newbie. She seems to be under control. Geeze...give her more credit. As long as she's with us tonight you have nothing to worry about." She glanced back over to wards the house. Devin was home. She could hear the car engine turning onto the drive. "You'll have to come meet the 'family'." She laughed looking back over at Alani.
